How do I register as Petition Circulator?
- By law (section 100.371) a person who collects, delivers, or otherwise physically possesses more than 25 signed petition forms that do not include his or her own signed petition form or a signed petition form belonging to the person’s spouse, or the parent, child, grandparent, grandchild, or sibling of the person or the person’s spouse must first register with the Department of State before collecting petitions.
- To register as a petition circulator, complete an online application. Once registered, you will be able to manage your own account and assign yourself the initiative(s) for which you plan to collect.
- Information submitted to register as a petition circulator becomes public record, subject to any applicable exemptions under Florida law.
How long does it take to process an online application to become a registered petition circulator?
It may take at least one to two business days to process, depending on volume. Applications submitted after business hours or on the weekend are not processed until at least the next business day.An improperly entered or incomplete registration can delay processing. The most common errors relate to incorrect address and email entry or format.
